Scleroderma Quote: Jason Alexander

Jason Alexander on Scleroderma
Jason Alexander doesn’t have scleroderma but his sister did. After watching his beloved sister Karen Greenspan’s struggle with the debilitating disease, Alexander became a scleroderma advocate. Karen passed away in 2014. In this scleroderma quote, Jason Alexander reveals the progression of her disease.
Scleroderma is a chronic connective tissue disease generally classified as one of the autoimmune rheumatic diseases. It often coincides with other autoimmune diseases.
In a 2001 USA TODAY article, Alexander opened up about his sister’s scleroderma: “It is a painful, uncomfortable and debilitating disease. Karen was diagnosed 12 years ago and held a job until just 4 years ago. Her spirit was willing, but she could not do the work. At one point, it was difficult for her to walk down a hallway.”
