SRF announces lineup for Cool Comedy, Hot Cuisine fundraiser
Bob Saget Legacy Award to be presented Oct. 29 at annual scleroderma event
The Scleroderma Research Foundation (SRF) has announced the star-studded lineup for its annual Cool Comedy, Hot Cuisine fundraising event, slated to take place Oct. 29 at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles.
The event will be hosted by actor and comedian Jeff Ross, known as the “Roastmaster General.” Ross and John Mayer, a Grammy Award winner for his music, and a musical guest at the event, will be honored with the Bob Saget Legacy Award for their enduring commitment to scleroderma research and their efforts to carry on Saget’s mission of raising awareness for the SRF’s work.
SRF created the event more than 40 years ago to increase scleroderma awareness and raise funds for research and patient education programs. Started in 1987, the event has since raised more than $29 million to support the most promising research in scleroderma, according to the SRF.
“Cool Comedy, Hot Cuisine isn’t just about world-class entertainment and amazing food — although we’ll have plenty of both!” Susan Feniger, cochair of the event and an award-winning chef, said in a SRF press release. “We’re here for a crucial cause — finding a cure for scleroderma.”

Other comedians set to perform at the event are Whitney Cummings, creator of the TV series “2 Broke Girls,” and Alex Edelman, an Emmy award winner for “Just For Us.” Chris Hardwick, host of NBC’s game “The Wall,” and Jim Jefferies, an Australian comedian with a provocative style of humor, are also in the lineup.
In addition to comedy, participants will enjoy cocktails and dinner.
For more than 25 years, actor and comedian Saget hosted the event together with Feniger, who is an SRF board member.
Kelly Rizzo, also an event co-chair, said predicted “an unforgettable night that brings us closer to a cure” for the chronic skin and connective tissue disease.
“This year’s lineup is made up of people who loved Bob dearly, and I could not be more grateful to them for carrying on Bob’s passion for using laughter and music to fight scleroderma,” Rizzo said.
Regina Hall and Caroline Hirsch are the other cochairs.
Individual tickets are available at $750, and sponsorships range from $1,000 for advocate sponsors to $100,000 for presenting sponsors.
Event sponsors include the AE Family Foundation; Max, Samantha, Montana, and Mark Scher (family of Sharon Lynn Monsky, founder of SRF); and the Wright & Evnin Family Foundation. Other top supporters include Behnaz Baker and Omar Baker, MD, Vi and Andy Merin, Dan and Jayna Schimberg, and Amgen.
