Last Week’s Hot Topic on Scleroderma
Last week’s hot topic on Scleroderma was the Systemic Sclerosis Patients at Threefold Risk for Venous Thromboembolism written by Timea Polgar.
The article is focused on systemic sclerosis (SSc) patients and how they are at a substantially increased risk for the development of venous thromboembolism (VTE, obstructing blood clots), including pulmonary embolism (PE) and deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
Thanks to the work of the Sara R. Schoenfeld and colleagues, we are one step closer to improving patients’ clinical outcomes, since a better understanding of the possible increased VTE risk in this patient population is crucial.
