Dr. Shervin Assassi, MD, an associate professor at the McGovern Medical School in Houston, Texas talks about his research into genetics and the role genes play in scleroderma. He explains that scleroderma is a complex polygenic disease and is caused by the alteration of several genes rather than a single gene and talks about the work of a genome-wide association study and its results.
