June 29 is World Scleroderma Day and in its honor, the Scleroderma Foundation is hosting a virtual “Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma” walk.

MORE: Four of the most important questions about scleroderma.

Not everyone is able to attend a “Stepping Out” event due to location or poor health, so the virtual event allows people in the scleroderma community to take part without having to leave their homes. For those who are well enough to get outside, they can get together with friends and family and walk locally. Participants will still be able to get sponsors and raise donations for the Scleroderma Foundation, and they will be able to use social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook to reach out to potential donors.

By registering as a virtual walker, you will have access to a personal fundraising page to make donating easy. You can be creative in your approach to the event, using features like Facebook Live and Instagram videos to chart your progress as you connect with other virtual walkers or those who are participating in one of the 20 Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma Walks. Find out more about the event here.
