Jimmy Kimmel, Jim Gaffigan, Bob Saget, Jeff Garlin And John Mayer Together For Scleroderma
Bob Saget will once again host the 34th Cool Comedy – Hot Cuisine gala to benefit the Scleroderma Research Foundation (SRF). It will be held on Friday, June 5 at the Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire. Saget, who lost his sister to scleroderma and currently serves as an SRF Board Member, will appear along with friends and comedy stars Jimmy Kimmel,  Jeff Garlin, and Jim Gaffigan. John Mayer will perform as a special musical guest.
Cool Comedy – Hot Cuisine is presented by Actelion Pharmaceuticals to benefit the Scleroderma Research Foundation. SRF is a leading nonprofit American investor in medical research to find next-generation therapies to treat and eventually cure those living with scleroderma. Celebrity restaurateurs/chefs and Top Chef Masters Susan Feniger (who is also an SRF Board Member) and Mary Sue Milliken from the Food Network’s Too Hot Tamales will be preparing the multi-course “Hot Cuisine” that will include dishes from their Border Grill Restaurants and Feniger’s Mud Hen Tavern.
“The recent research progress has been remarkable. Thanks to advances that the SRF is making possible, patients are living longer, fuller lives. Our funded researchers have recently linked scleroderma’s onset to cancer and, in a separate study, they have shown that the disease’s harmful scarring cannot only be stopped, but actually reversed in the lab,” said Saget.
The Cool Comedy – Hot Cuisine event was previously held in  Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York and San Francisco, successfully raising awareness for the disease and enabling the Foundation to fund research projects that have generated hope for SSc patients.
Scleroderma literally means “hard skin” in a more literal translation, but the disease is more than that, since it affects internal organs and can lead to lethal consequences. Sometimes the muscles and joints are affected and result in pain. The disease can also result in the loss of fingers, toes or entire limbs, and can severely damage lungs and kidneys.
The event will include a cocktail reception, a dinner, some of the biggest names in comedy, and a musical performance by John Mayer. A live auction will take place as well, featuring several packages that include the chance to attend the 2015 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and After-Party.
Tickets can be bought for $250; www.sclerodermaRESEARCH.org.
