Scleroderma Stories: Stephanie Packer

This video from Adam Karm titled “The Best Mom in the World” is all about the Packer family. Thirty-three-year-old Stephanie Packer was diagnosed with diffuse scleroderma in 2012 and now, as a result, suffers from pulmonary fibrosis.

Stephanie is unable to work and as her health has deteroriated, husband Brian has been forced to quit his job to stay home and look after Stephanie and their four children. This has obviously added a financial burden to the already emotional and distressing situation for the Packer family.

However, none of this has brought Stephanie down. Not only has she defied the doctors who only gave her three years to live, but she continues to be an active advocate for scleroderma. She regularly tries to help others suffering from the disease.

Study finds that scleroderma-related pulmonary fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension linked to right ventricle dysfunction.
